This region in the northern part of the country lies at the Baltic Sea. It is most popular in summertime, because of its numerous qualities: beautiful sandy beaches, wooded areas and the nearby Slowinski National Park. The characteristic features of the region are: picturesque sandy beaches with dunes, shallow coastal lakes and extensive post-glacial lakes. Some areas and towns have become well known holiday resorts (Miedzyzdroje, Leba, Darlowo, Wladislawowo). There are also a number of saline health resorts (Kolobrzeg, Ustka, Sopot, Mielno).
