Zillinsky kraj is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the country. In the northern part of Mala Fatra, extends the valley of Vratna dolina, with -beautiful sites attracting many visitors every year. The surrounding area of the artificial lake of Orava (35 km2) as well as lake Liptovska are particularly attractive. North of Lower Tatras, lies the valley of Demanova, a wild and romantic -region with many grottos open to the public. The ”Slovakian Paradise” with its glacial grottos of Dobsinska l’adova are only about 30 km away, south of Poprad. There is also good skiing on the northern slopes of the Chopk mountains reaching 2024 m in altitude.
